There were a lot of similar questions, and you should find plenty of
answers there.

Making the website more responsive, for example, to make it display
fine on a handheld device, is indeed a useful idea, thanks for the
suggestion!

Note that we haven't yet updated our GSoC page – and we aren't sure
whether FreeType will participate the next year in GSoC at all, mainly
due to time constraints of us developers.
