Nice!

It would be great if you could contribute to FreeType.

Unfortunately, GSoC explicitly discourages participating organizations
from taking 'such' non-students. To quote a very recent e-mail from
Stephanie Taylor, the GSoC program manager (on the non-public 'Google
Summer of Code Mentors List'):

GSoC is intended for beginners to open source software development,
it is not intended for experienced software engineering
  professionals.

The spirit of the program is to welcome new contributors to open
  source software development.

GSoC is not a way to help professional software engineers gain more
experience in software development or earn additional money.

In other words, we welcome any contribution from you to FreeType, and
we would be as supportive as with GSoC students, but this can't happen
within the framework of GSoC itself. Sorry.

    Werner
