For what it's worth, I'm working on an /dev/imb driver for the
SSIF interface that the 7210 (and 7221) use. It's for FreeBSD 4.8
(though porting to 5.4 is probably very easy as I don't use
any spl's).
It allows ipmitool to run nearly unmodified and query the hardware:
