Though it is *difficult* we should try as much as possible to support
multiple versions of automake (1.4, 1.6, 1.7 and 1.8). This process
usually evolves over multiple releases (when released to general
public).
For now (till 0.1.0), let us standardize on the most widely used
version of automake and autoconf. Can somebody take a survey!
