OpenIPMI driver is broken for IA64.
I already got our FreeIPMI user-space inband KCS driver working on
IA-64. I'm making a temporary release for sensors, bmc-info (firmware
version, features ...), bmc-config utilities.
Let me know what functionalities you are specifically looking for.
To test the kcs driver, please download this tar ball from
ftp://ftp.cdclinux.com/home/ftp/pub/ipmi/libfreeipmi-0.0.0-ia64.tar.gz
ftp://ftp.cdclinux.com/home/ftp/pub/ipmi/freeipmi-utils.tgz
freeipmi-utils package contains bmc-info tool.
Sample Output:

| Hi, Your name was given to me as a pointer in enabling IPMI in the
| kernel for the ia64 Tiger4 machines. I have been playing around with
| it, but for the life of me, the kernel on boot up claims it can't find
| the KCS at port 0xCA2. It also tries for an interface at 0xCA9. I
| know the BMC is at 0x20 and have been able to send commands with
| OpenIPMI's "ipmicmd" to it directly, however, in trying to go through
| the software stack, it seems to load the following when bringing up a
| new kernel:
|
| ipmi message handler version v25 ipmi device interface version v25
| IPMI System Interface driver version v25, KCS version v25, SMIC
| version v25 ipmi_smi: Trying state machine at I/O address 0xca2
| ipmi_smi: Trying state machine at I/O address 0xca9 ipmi_smi: Unable
| to find any SMI interfaces ipmi socket interface version v25
|
| Is there something else I need to enable in the kernel config file? I
| have enabled CONFIG_I2C stuff as well as just about all of the ACPI
| and HOTPLUG items, but nothing really seems to matter. Any ideas?
