[Freebangfont-devel] Changes in the Bangla Juktakhar system

Hi all,
I noticed in today's (31st Jan.) Anandabazar Patrika that from the next
academic year, the WB state education board will be using a new system
of juktakkhars - so called "swachcha fonts". Conjuncts like ঙ্গ, স্থ,
ষ্ণ, ক্র and forms like রু, রূ, etc will not appear in their usual, as
Microsoft puts it, "akhand" forms ;-) but simply as "half" forms placed
side by side.
I believe that a similar system is in use in Bangladesh.
It would be great if someone manages to get the official standards
document (if any such thing exists), from the PaschimBanga Bangla
Academy.
I am personally against this, but those in power have already made the
decision, so I propose that AkaashNormal be modified to use this new
system. The number of glyphs in Akaash is not very high, and it would be
ideally suited for this purpose.
