Hopefully nobody notices or is bothered by the backwards compatibility
issue I mentioned in my other e-mail message, namely that if
erc-track-position-in-mode-line was set to something other than
'before-modes, 'after-modes, or t (in particular, if it is set to nil,
as specified as a customize choice), the tracking information won't be
shown in the mode line, which will be a change from the previous
behavior of showing it "After all other information".  This shouldn't be
too difficult for users to fix, though.
