Dear all,
I have two suggestions that seem to be convenient for users:
1. Don't switch to a channel when the connection to that channel is
established.
I am using ERC in a wireless network in a laptop. That means the
connection is closed now and then. When the connection is fast, I
can wait a few seconds for all channels to be connected. However,
most of the time it takes longer than a few seconds. So I have to
switch to my work buffer. I then become rather uneasy knowing that
at some point the buffer is going to switch to those "ERC" buffers.
So I suggest if we can have an option so enable similar behavior as
in firefox's "opening tab in background".
2. This is rather minor. I haven't used irc extensively so this might
sound stupid.
When joining channel with "C-c C-j", the minibuffer should contain a
"#" and place the cursor at the end of it so that users can start
typing the meaningful channel names right away. I assume all
channels start with "#". Or maybe make "#" customizable.
HTH,
