Btw,
I just tried running enigma in valgrind.

==18307== ERROR SUMMARY: 2117 errors from 54 contexts (suppressed: 63 from 1)

==18307== definitely lost: 782,121 bytes in 6,453 blocks.
==18307== possibly lost: 144,608 bytes in 4,775 blocks.
==18307== still reachable: 6,836,642 bytes in 9,083 blocks.

Note that a couple of these things might result from SDL, Xerces or
other libraries.
In fact most appeared to be invalid reads by xerces or ioctl errors by
libasound.
I didn't find any I could directly link to enigma. I'll try a debug
build of enigma.

I have a log if anyone is interested, but I couldn't find any error in
it that seemed relevant.
Really mostly invalid-read of size 1 errors via Utf8ToXML::init and
then in Xerces.

Old installations shouldn't be around, I'm keeping my system very
clean (and I've just gotten a new laptop). All my compiles are done in
a chroot etc.

best regards,
Erich Schubert
