No, I don't do anything fancy either, but it would be nice to have something better than: -

when looking at wiki pages in emacs.  In particular I'd like something to align/realign columns that doesn't interfere too much with standard text editing.

I know table.el has better functionality but I find myself not using it because of ergonomics: it asks too many silly questions (e.g. how on earth am I meant to know how many rows I want in my table when I create it?), requires using the mouse too often and has a disconcerting time lag when typing anything into a cell.
