It's "~/emacs/lisp". I guess the problem is that it doesn't end with
a slash.
Aha, it does work properly if you supply a directory with an ending
slash to grep-tree:
M-x grep-tree RET set-file-modes RET el RET ~/emacs/lisp/ RET
But wouldn't it be friendlier if grep-tree could take care of this in
some way?
