Sounds reasonable.

I also tried

> list_data <- list("a", list("b"), "c")
> print(list_data[1])
[[1]]
[1] "a"

> print(list_data[2])
[[1]]
[[1]][[1]]
[1] "b"


> print(list_data[3])
[[1]]
[1] "c"

Although, I am not sure if there are no subtle issues with the actual
representation.
