What if you add a dot? 

#+begin_src org
- A [[./rootsite/somepage/][(relative) page]].
- A [[./rootsite/somepage][(relative) page]].


#+begin_src markdown
-   A [(relative) page](./rootsite/somepage/).
-   A [(relative) page](./rootsite/somepage).

Or is that a different link?
