Thank you Kyle for your quick reply.

I confirm that, as you said, the error I reported is fixed in the
latest maint (release_8.3.1-93-g69b0db), but now a new error arises
upon M-x org-publish:

user-error: No language for src block: (unnamed)

Again, this did not happen with 8.2.10 that ships with Emacs 24.5.1.
