In more detail:

Ran a 
git reset --hard

The deleted status-es disappeared
Now odt export is working.

So two questions:
1. What could have happened that those files vanished?

2. Is it possible with the new build system to run org compiled but in-tree.


I do not like to run org from a separate build-directory than the git directory because it creates one more nook for versionitits. See thread
