[O] ordered lists with intervening paragraphs export to LaTeX

Greetings!

I have the following setup in my orgmode file:

1. blah blah

some text in a paragraph

2. foo bar

some text in a paragraph

3 .....

and so on

In LaTeX it starts renumbering at 1 each time.  I read the orgmode
manual for ordered lists and it tells to use address@hidden , address@hidden, 
and so on to
force a certain number.  However, it is exported to LaTeX verbatim.

What to do?
