Doesn't seem so, but would be my guess, too.
Funny thing is, I now have two machines with as far as I can tell
identical configurations.
One works, one doesn't. :-)
Anyway, thanks a lot to all of you. I'll take the opportunity to
rebuild .emacs from scratch.
