Dear all,
the solution was quite simple - as always.
I use longlines-mode with org-mode, and that caused this problem.
Once I switched longlines-mode off, everything works as expected.

I am not sure if it is a bug or intended behavior, but I hope this
will help somebody.

my best,
Konstantin
