I have _really_ finished writing the Android port, and that includes a
new ``virtual filesystem'' component which enables Emacs to directly
edit (in contrast to merely reading) files and directories inside
document providers, such as network attached storage client programs.
No consensus was built the previous time we debated whether to include
this code or not, but with Emacs 29.1 out the door and master relatively
calm, I would like to revisit this subject.
I've already had gobs of people employ my inbox as a substitute for the
bug tracker, confirming my earlier apprehensions. Furthermore, several
users have obtained my organizational e-mail by hook or by crook, and
used it for petty banter concerning design and UI decisions made there,
leading to unpleasant inquiries from my management regarding the
adequate use of organizational resources. As such, I hold no continued
interest in _publishing_ updates to this port, unless it is clearly
presented as part of GNU Emacs instead of a one man show. Judging by
the abundance of discourse misdirected at me, it seems to interest more
than a negligible portion of the Emacs user populace, some of whom use
the branch for its improved touch-screen support outside of Android.
Also, would someone ascertain if the branch still builds on MS Windows,
after the past few updates from Gnulib?
TIA.
