See my previous message. It _will_ be a +1 to learn,
in the context of Emacs, if people have to also learn
the Elisp syntax anyway, for interactive use.
Any way you look at it, I think, if the Elisp regexp
syntax is what is used interactively (modulo extra
backslashing), then adding another syntax means that
using that other syntax is a +1 - extra learning.
Not that extra learning is necessarily bad... ;-)
