On a recent git pull, I get the following make error

I have tried reverting a couple of recent commits but to no avail. I'm a
bit out of my depth here.
I am on Linux: 3.16.0-10-686-pae #1 SMP Debian 3.16.74-1 (2019-09-24)
i686 GNU/Linux.
