It might have been application/x-diff; it was a while back.

Mine is irrelevant. These were patches received by Mailman at
xemacs.org, which got stripped because we deny application/* MIME
types. If Gnus has stopped doing that, I'm glad, but at the time
people were trying to tell me that it's a good idea.
