Old PowerPC Macs cannot run later versions of the OS than 10.5. Perhaps that is 
why, according to the same page, about 3% of Macs are on that version.

I am not saying that support for 10.5 shouldn't be dropped too, just mentioning 
this as a possibly relevant fact.
