And combination of these features introduces another bug in the NS
port.

 (set-face-background 'default "ARGBfeffffff") ;; almost opaque white color
 (set-face-stipple 'default "splash.png") ;; actually not stippling but tiling

Then the background of the tiling image suddenly becomes completely
transparent.

Again, keeping these features in the release version only produces
variety kinds of problems.
