I cannot make up my mind because this discussion was very long with
several sub-threads, and the problem is not concisely described in any
of the messages.  Also, the original problem report used very complex
customizations.  Dan posted a simplified example, but then no one else
used that to argue.

Could someone please post a concise explanation of what the problem is
using Dan's example (or a similarly small one)?  TIA
