No doubt they do. But even without looking at them, it's pretty clear
which convention is more consistent with other scrolling interfaces,
since they're all over the place. As for calendar interfaces in
particular, I just checked what's handy -- the gnome calendar widget and
google calendar -- and they both use the "usual" convention (opposite
from what Emacs' calendar currently does).
