Whitespace in output of describe-variable |

Months ago someone changed describe-variable's whitespace output in
such a way as to make it (to me) less legible, at least on obsolete
variables. For example:
XXX is a variable define in `YYY.el'.
Its value is ZZZZ
This variable is obsolete since since 22.1;
use `WWW' instead.
Documentation:
*My docstring.
Instead of:
XXX is a variable define in `YYY.el'.
Its value is ZZZZ
This variable is obsolete since since 22.1;
use `WWW' instead.
Documentation:
*My docstring.
Was this change made on purpose?
