I haven't bothered to test, but I do know that the slowdown can't be very
serious, other people using c-mode, c++-mode, java-mode, perl-mode,
scheme-mode, python-mode, latex-mode, haskell-mode, ada-mode, texinfo-mode,
... would have complained already.
