Actually, UTF-8 is not that sane nowadays because it may
have BOM <EF BB BF>. I read Unicode 4.1 but it doesn't
define how to treat the heading byte sequence <EF BB BF> of
UTF-8. It says, in short, "be careful"!!! Sigh...
Is the situation somehow improved in Unicode 5.0?
