The reason given for 67 for the first line was apparently
its appearance in *Apropos*. I don't see the point of this.
For defcustoms there still is another reason for the first line of the
docstring not being too long: if you click on [More] in a Custom
buffer and the more changes to [Hide Rest], the docstring can look
_really_ ugly with a long first line.
Fair enough. How long is too long? What's a good guideline? Do you think the
cut-off for the first line should be <, =, or > the cut-off for subsequent
lines? I vote for 70 for all doc-string lines.
