On the other, that doesn't avoid what I'm complaining about: you should be able to use a big package and decide which bits are useful to you and which are not. Although on another level, look at cua, for example: you can decide whether you want C-c, C-x, C-v bindings, rectangles, etc. on a feature-by-feature basis. I dislike modules that take hold of your environment (particularly the frame/window setup) or else they refuse to cooperate.
