I expect it to be slow, sometimes unbearably slow.  I'm running Emacs 21 
on a 166MHz DOS machine sometimes, and even though it's character-mode 
display, Emacs has a difficulty paging through some files, like 
lisp/internal.el, which have lots of faces.
