i've migrated the patch from this page :

to cdrtools-2.0 from Joerg Schilling. You can find it on :

It seems to work, here's a test burn with a Pioneer 2x DVD-RW recordable:

Oh, and yes all linux cdrecord based DVD burntools have failed on my
