Follow-up Comment #1:
This is not a bug. Duplicity needs to decrypt the remote manifest file to
compare it to the local copy, otherwise, it is possible to alternate between
using --archive-dir and not using it, resulting in the remote and local being
out of sync, which is a worse problem than supplying a password.
--use-agent was implemented to allow you to use gpg-agent or compatible.
This will supply the password for you.
