lot's changed since then, most stayed the same. check

the general backup format so far is unchanged. so backups from v0.8.x-1.x are 
restorable with v2.x .

that will not be an issue as duplicity supports gpg2 fine since quite a while.

there is a major rework underway wrt. the setup routine. not sure if it may be 
advisable to wait for that. also not sure which state that is in right now. Ken 
the maintainer can shine light on these details. i cc'd him.
