Dear Martin

You are correct, there is no sftp binary on wd drive and duplicity fails (naturally). Even if I force ssh, it still wants sftp for something. I read it somewhere in the manual.

Do you mean there's no sftp-service binary?  Does it actually fail
when you connect over sftp?
