although i wouldn't call it rebasing, but starting a new chain on the old full,
it sounds perfectly feasible. nifty idea, who is up for it?
maybe i find some time to look into it, but my python skills are virtually not
existing, and we still have the backup without private key issue to solve. hey
list, does somebody want to volunteer for that?
