I just received the attached bug report and think that this is a
general issue on multiuser systems with duplicity. I also don't see a
way to solve it within duply for backends that do not accept
environment vars for login credentials (e.g. like ftp).
ftp does accept the password in an environment variable:
FTP_PASSWORD=mypassword
duplicity /local/dir ftp://address@hidden/some_dir
(taken from "man duplicity" / http://duplicity.nongnu.org/duplicity.1.html)
(for ssh/scp backend, the option "--ssh-askpass" has to be passed. Or
use public-key auth)
