And in re-reading the man page, yes, I am an idiot. Dear god, I need to learn to read. Looks like --file-to-restore is my friend.
As a side note, I noticed the duplicity-devel branch in FreeBSD ports is 0.6.4, so at least I'm on the latest development branch.
