[Duplicity-talk] Replacement for tar

Hi guys,

I read your page regarding the replacement of tar as the backup file format with interest. As serendipity would have it, I have just been reading about the xar format described here (http://code.google.com/p/xar/). Might this be a suitable replacement? It certainly seems to have extendable metadata covered.
