Perhaps the environment to the command is not the same; that is,
perhaps sftp isn't in the PATH or something like that. However,
I don't think I've seen "invalid command" before, except....
I think the echo command is a shell built-in in some cases, and
-e is not universally recognized; perhaps "invalid command" is
related in some way; for example, echo is echoing the string
"-e ..." and that's not a valid command for sftp.
