Hello,
I am interested in Pnet implementation of Windows form, but I think it should
work also under Mono project. There are many reasons:
- from my view: the idea how Pnet forms are implemented is very good
- Mono still has no winforms implementation
- Pnet winforms would gain many testers from Mono
I did some hacking and tried to port Pnet winforms to Mono, but i had quite a
lot of problems. Just some of them are here:
1) Pnet Graphics object has constructor that is missing in mono and also in
csc.
2) DotGNU.Images namespace is missing in Mono and is heavily used by drawing
toolkit etc... I don't understand what the namespace if for - maybe some
missing functions from System.Drawing?
3) System.Drawing.Printing and PaperSource and PaperSize - again they have
constructors that are in Mono missing.
4) some other minor problems.
So I would like to ask now: Is my effort useful? What are opinions on porting
winforms to Mono? Would Pnet team support these porting efforts? I mean if
there could be just one code that can be compiled under both Pnet and Mono?
As for the result of my work - i managed today after some 16 hours of working
and hacking like 60 compiler errors to compile winforms and show simple form
:-)
Thanks for interest. Radek
