Hi Albert,

Configurable at compile-time is not a valid option for most Linux users.
of course it is a valid option for most Linux users, since most linux
users will use binaries, usually provided by their own setup.
E.g. Debian, Devuan, Ubuntu will use their respective repositories. It
is assumed that packagers "configure" GNUstep in a coherent manner.
So if we support the feature, maybe it is just a matter of notifying the
respective maintainer to enable or configure it, otherwise, well, it
needs to be implemented.
If you like to compile yourself, it is your choice.
Similarly, are you saying that Flatpak packages cannot be made with
GNUstep applications?
Right now, Flatpak is the de facto standard for distributing
applications in the stores of the most popular distributions.
It will be difficult to attract the attention of developers under
these conditions.
Sorry, I have no clue about Flatpak and I don't know if it is a
freedesktop.org suggestion. Doesn't look like.
Most distributions use their packages, I use latest and unstable debian,
it still uses deb packages, alpine linux apk.
NetBSD, OpenBSD, FreeBSD their respective packages. Gentoo portage..
ecc, ecc. So maybe define your scenario better.
Fred was right now on Suse OBS, so he might chime in there.
I think Freedesktop and packaging deserve their respective discussion
threads though, since they go a little beyond web site and marketing.
