Thank you Ron !!!! This fixes the issues. A number of uninstall and purges
did not fix things, but removing that cache fixed it.
The emergency was that I am presenting a 50-minute lecture on gnuradio
and the practice session is tomorrow....

~/.cache/grc_gnuradio/cache.json
