Interesting. I really have no idea what's going on there. Using a package install should just work. Are there maybe multiple GR installs & somehow they are being mixed-between -- maybe by some odd shell environment settings? - MLD

This looks to me like the QtGUI components of GR weren't installed
correctly by the installer, yet, on my systems here that I've tried,
   everything works.
