Looking at http://directory.fsf.org/wiki/Common_Desktop_Environment and
similar, there are categories Interface:desktop-enhancement and
Interface:frontend, but no 'OS interface' category as such.
Such category (or an equivalent) should list the things which face the user
running a free operating system such as a GNU/Linux distribution or Replicant.
Examples include the CDE linked above, Gnome, Xfce, LXQT, fluxbox (this is not
a full DE, maybe more like a window manager or something basic), Harmattan (the
desktop the Maemo operating system runs), similar stuff for Replicant, and also
all sorts of bash and screen and ncurses environments for people who like
running GNU/Linux or Replicant without starting an X server.
The category name is hard. It could belong to 'Interface/*' section. The name
could be 'UX' (user experience), 'desktop' (but this ignores the mobile world),
'OS interface', or I don't know what.
