Richard has got back to me with this, positively, but not quite how I had hoped..

Who is available(or can get time off) and is interested in going?
It's the 12th and 13th of Feb 2009 in Birmingham, which is the thurs and fri before half term...

In addition, would anyone be interested in putting together a short presentation about non-free ICT through the eyes of a student or something... (Ideas welcome) I think I'd be up to the challenge of doing a presentation if other people are interested too.

Cheers

Tim

Hi Richard,

I'm contacting you on behalf of DFEY-NW[1].

One of the aims of DFEY is to get more free software used by the Northwest's
schools but from the perspective of the students as opposed to the
sysadmin/CTO angle which Schoolsforge specialises in.

Your input would be very helpful.

....
Unfortunately, as we are students we are a bit disheartened by the price of
attending the conference.

Once travel and accommodation are taken into account, it's easy to see
FLOSSIE costing our members about 200 pounds for the weekend.

OK, the event is on the Thursday and Friday before the half-term, not
at the weekend. If you would be able to attend, I would try to see
how we can fund, say, two places.

The cost is as low as we can make it, and for a two day event it is
incredibly cheap! We really can't afford to offer any further general
discounts - sorry.

If you are looking for accommodation, the F1
(http://www.hotelformule1.com/gb/hotel-3073-formule-1-birmingham-bordesley-circus/index.shtml)
is £28, for a room with a double bed and bunk over it! As for
ttransport, it is possible that someone would be able to offer a lift.

The other thought is that you might like to do a presentation/talk -
it would be very interesting for everyone concerned.
