Oh, I should say I haven't tested this for Jack - it will be easy to
make mistakes if you mis-type _HAVE_JACK_ then it would be the non-jack
case even though you do have jack.
Please test the prefs dialog.
Also, I approve of the changes to prefs, the code will be much more
maintainable once the teething troubles are out.
