This looks a *lot* like the problems with dynamic Motif on HPUX-10.20.

What does the output of "chatr `which ddd`" look like?

Have you installed *all* the latest patches from HP, including
PHSS_28869 (or newer), as mentioned in the PROBLEMS file?
