Caching source file names: trouble with large appl

Hi all,

I am using ddd+gdb to debug a somewhat large application
(500M of debug symbols). There is a long delay on startup mainly
caused by getting all the source file names from gdb.

Had anyone already looked into this? I am considering
making it configurable but would like to avoid wasting the effort
in case it was done already.
